The Running Charity
The Running Charity delivers running and personal development programmes to young people aged 16-25 who are affected by homelessness. We are a small charity formed in 2014 in London, now also active in Manchester, Leeds, and Brighton, with plans to expand to other areas.
Our programme of active wellbeing supports young people through some of life’s most challenging obstacles, providing community, key work support, access to therapy, and personal development coaching. All these interactions are aimed at enhancing an individuals’ toolkit to cope better with the immense adversities they face.
We help young people who have had difficult pasts to get back on their feet, using a goal setting and reward system to develop the habit of achieving. By using running to start and maintain long term relationships we enable them to make positive decisions about the direction of their future.
We are proud that on joining us young people who consistently have a wellbeing score lower than the general population leave us with one that is higher.
Homelessness can happen at any time and to anyone. When it happens to a young person it can affect them for the rest of their life. At least 103,000 young people in the UK are homeless right now and homeless young people are almost twice as likely to die as their non-homeless peers.
Together we can make a difference.
