Grand 2 Grand
Challenge
Six days. 275km. Running.
In the Nevada desert.
Aged 50-something.
Why?
The actual ‘toughest footrace on earth’, (apparently harder than MDS) temperatures reaching 50°C, six-marathons’ worth of running, blisters, burns, hallucinations, tears, blood and an awful lot of sweat – it’s hard to see why anyone would want to attempt the Grand to Grand Ultra in the USA. But yet, inspired by a meeting with a former competitor, and driven by wanting to help the incredible Running Charity, that is what Chris Carter is doing – aged 53.
How to support and track me during the race
Support
Messages can be sent to me via normal phone - we have network coverage at night
All competitors are issued with a GPS tracker that allows the staff on the course to track our position, to monitor if we’re off course and it also has an SOS facility in the event of emergency. The GPS tracker also allows you to track our progress in real-time. On rare occasions the tracker may lose signal or have battery power issues, this is usually a short-term issue and should not be a concern for anyone following the race. Runner’s positions are updated approximately every 10 minutes and it is not unusual for a competitor’s position to remain static for a while.
You will also find links to the course details for each stage, the live webcam at the finish each day, the YouTube channel and more.
Brand partners
Are you a brand looking to get a product tested in the most extreme conditions? We’re looking for brand partners to work with either in the build-up to the race or during the event itself.
Or, if you’d like to play a bigger role in Man v Sand, we’re also looking for corporate sponsors to help fund the challenge and raise all-important funds for the Running Charity.
I am already very grateful to the guys at www.Expatinsure.com for sponsoring me for these great events.
Get in touch, if you’d like to get involved.
